Intellectual Collectives
The Institute for Global Studies supports a limited number of Intellectual Collectives. Intellectual Collectives are faculty driven research interventions on inter- and cross-disciplinary themes and topics that allow faculty members from a variety of departments to come together to explore scholarly collaborations. Intellectual Collectives serve to foster and facilitate intellectual community building among faculty members and aim at exploring, formulating, and consolidating research projects to prepare them for external funding requests such as grant applications.
The support offered by IGS consists of administrative and logistical assistance and a modest budget of up to $8,000 per year for events and activities such as workshops, work-in-progress groups, seminars, lectures, performances, reading groups, and symposia. IGS typically funds Intellectual Collectives for up to two years.
Application
Faculty members who have an interest in starting an Intellectual Collective should submit a 1 to 2 page description of the project, short CVs of faculty conveners, and a tentative budget. There is no application deadline for Intellectual Collective funding.
